Higgins Twp. Fire & Rescue proudly protects 2300 people living in an area of 144 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status.

Higgins Twp. Fire Department serves the residents of Higgins Township and the Village of Roscommon. The department moved from the village to a new station in the Township in 1994.Roscommon is also the home of the Michigan Fireman’s Memorial.

Items accepted:

Compost site-leaves, yard rakings, brush and tree limbs up to 3" in diameter.

Recycling site-paper (newspaper, magazines, catalogs), plastic (milk bottles, detergent bottles), glass (juice bottles, food jars)

TRASH PICK-UP

Township-wide trash pick-up is Wednesday. Have items curbside by 7am.

Each residence is allowed to place 5 bags and 1 large item out for pick-up each week.

Appliances can also be put curbside for pick-up.

2008 Holiday Schedule:

Collection will be on Thursday after the following holidays: Memorial Day & Labor Day.

Collection will be on schedule Wednesday before the following holidays: 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day 2009.

PLEASE NOTE: TO DISPOSE OF GLASS

For the safety of the driver, please mark the container containing glass.

If possible, break glass and place in a box. Tape the box and mark broken glass.
